Bed Bugs

Aprehend® is a new, specialized biopesticide treatment

Our company has a brand new treatment option available. Our trained technicians use a fungicide and spray affected areas. Because we use a fungicide, you and your pets are able to stay in your home while the treatment takes place. Our technicians tell you how to stage the house to be sprayed and the whole process should take on average an hour.

  • Insects only need a very brief encounter with Aprehend® to become affected

  • You can replace linens and move furniture back after treatment areas have dried -  within 2 hours of application

  • Non toxic to humans and pets - odourless & invisible

  • Works in low humidity

Bedbugs are small, oval, brownish insects that live on the blood of animals or humans while they sleep. Adult bedbugs have flat bodies about the size of an apple seed. After feeding, however, their bodies swell and are a reddish colour. Female bedbugs may lay hundreds of eggs, each of which is about the size of a speck of dust, over a lifetime, the eggs are laid in cracks, crevasses, and behind baseboards. They tend to hatch between 6 to 12 days. Immature bedbugs, called nymphs, shed their skins five times before reaching maturity and require a meal of blood before each shedding. Under favourable conditions the bugs can develop fully in as little as a month and produce three or more generations per year.

Signs you might have bedbugs;

  • You have reddish bites on your body, usually on your face, neck, arms, legs, and chest

  • Finding pepper sized feces on bed frame, boxed spring, and bed

  • Find shedding of bedbugs in the bed frame, boxed spring, and bed

Aprehend® is effective for 3 months: While bedbugs may reappear in treated areas (from human visitors, unwashed clothing and bedding, used furniture, or through other units; via walls, vents, electrical outlets) - the pests will still make contact with Aprehend® residue in treated areas and die.

Aprehend® is composed of Beauveria bassiana conidia spores applied in a proprietary and patented formulation.

Direct spray contact is not necessary. Bed bugs of all life stages, sex, or feeding status are killed within three to fourteen days following short-term contact with a treated surface.

Unlike chemicals, which require bed bugs to remain in contact with the spray in order to absorb the toxins, Aprehend® requires only the briefest of encounters with the sprayed surface to be effective. The figure above illustrates how bed bugs crossing just 2” of a sprayed surface die within 5 days.

Due to its excellent long-term activity, Aprehend® will provide three months’ protection from the establishment of bed bug infestations.

Only one Aprehend® application is required to treat an infestation. Additionally, bedbugs have become more and more resistant to insecticides, resulting in the need to apply insecticides multiple times as well as rotate chemicals - costly and time-consuming.

A regular (quarterly) treatment with Aprehend® offers apartment buildings, long-term care residences, condominiums, and motels the first and only effective method to protect against bed bugs and the associated lawsuits, loss of reputation, and remediation costs associated with bed bug infestations.
