Raccoons

The raccoon is a mammal and is native to North America. It is not unusual for a healthy raccoon to be moving about during the day. Raccoons are not generally aggressive towards humans however a mother raccoon will defend her babies and will make noises and even lunge at you if she feels that they are threatened. They can carry rabies however, raccoons pose a bigger threat through their droppings. Diseases such as salmonella, leptospirosis, and raccoon roundworm are all carried in urine and fecal matter. They reproduce in the late winter and early spring, the gestation period takes approximately 63 days. Litters can contain 1 to 8 babies but on average its 2 to 5.

Some signs that you might have a raccoon are;

  • Take a look around your roof line from the ground. Are any spots of your soffit disturbed or missing? Specifically in areas where the soffit meets the roof

  • Raccoons can even remove roof vents or chew through the roof, our trained technicians will be able to spot this for you

We offer humane animal removal and a trained technician will discuss with you the best option available. Options include installing a one way door and attaching it to the raccoons entrance point so they can get out and not back in again. We can then add additional wildlife barriers to any vulnerable spots so this problem doesn’t keep occurring. Our trained technicians know how to handle and remove babies. We make sure to reunite the mother and babies.
